Solidarity

Northampton Open Media stands in solidarity with those outraged by the murders of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd and countless others. We denounce the harassment and threats to Black folks in public and private spaces like those experienced by birdwatcher Christian Cooper. We stand opposed to the systemic racism and violence that destroys Black lives.

We acknowledge that Black and Indigenous communities face disproportionate impacts from COVID-19 because of systemic racism while Asian Americans face an increase in related hate crimes. We oppose systemic oppression and injustice in all its forms – including police brutality and inequities in health care.

It is the commitment of NOM to continually examine our work, our processes and priorities to support equity and justice.  It is the responsibility of NOM to support, lift and resource the expression of Black voices and Black lives
