State and town officials met with community members to discuss what Northampton locals call the “dog park.”
The 282 acre parcel of land has been used by the community as a recreational area since 1983 after the State Hospital closed.
Smith Vocational uses portions of the land for growing hay and planting crops. The parcel is legally designated as agricultural land. The future of the land is up in the air as local and state officials work with Northampton area residents before the lease is renewed.
