Tom Riddell speaks about the historical importance of the unofficial “dog park” in Northampton at a public meeting at Smith Vocational. The 282-acre parcel was formerly the site of a state hospital and a portion of the land was used as a cemetery. The land was set aside for agricultural use but has become an important recreational area in Northampton. The land lease is up for review and some city and state officials propose changing the way the land is used.
