Last week, 24 teams created short films of a randomly picked genre as part of the second ever NCTV 7 Day Film Sprint. We held The Sprintys screening and awards on Tuesday March 8th at the Parlor Room in Northampton. The audience was packed with new and seasoned filmmakers along with their families and friends, and the room was filled with laughter and smiles as we watched all of the films together Local Comedian and NCTV Producer Tim Lovett MC’d the night, telling jokes about his personal life, his experience as a new filmmaker, and comparing his hometown Springfield to Northampton.
NCTV Staff judged the films based on creativity, originality, interpretation of genre, use of the prompts (a mirror and line of dialog “I thought it was the other way around”) and awarded the top 3 films Gold, Silver and Bronze medals. It was a tough decision, but here are the winners:
3) Valleywood took home the Bronze Medal with their imaginative and touching story about a girl and her Animal.
2) The Depth of Feels won the Silver Medal with their beautiful vignette about a young Con Artist in training.
1) The Space Cadets took home the gold with their terrifying portrayal of a young woman attempting to survive in a Post Apocalyptic world.
We will be releasing all of the projects on our Community YouTube Channel in batches of three, starting today with the winners. Check back every 2 days for the rest of the month to see more great local film.
And as always, keep creating! You are all amazing, and NCTV is here to help however we can.
